Czech VR Company Seeks to Immortalize Lives in the Metaverse

Somnium Space is on a mission to provide individuals with avatars that enable them to exist perpetually in the metaverse.

The company, specializing in VR products developed on blockchain technology, facilitates the trading, construction, and storage of real estate and various digital assets as NFTs (non-fungible tokens).

The inspiration behind this endeavor, termed “Live Forever,” stems from the personal experience of the company’s CEO, Artur Sychov, who lost his father to cancer a few years ago.

In an interview with Vice, Sychov elucidates that “Live Forever” revolves around avatars that authentically capture individuals’ appearances, voices, and personalities.

The company requires diverse data inputs such as conversations, facial expressions, and movements to craft avatars that appear convincing even for brief interactions.

Sychov emphasizes their commitment to ensuring that these avatars can engage in believable conversations, even if only for a brief ten-minute span.

Regarding privacy concerns, Sychov reassures that users need not fret, as the collected data can be deleted at their discretion.

Moreover, he underscores the company’s commitment to transparency by operating on the blockchain, emphasizing that users have control and oversight over their data.
